RECTANGULAR LANTERNS - Trous Style

Variations on this this design of lantern are available, though all are built according to the same dimensions.

Photo on the right shows the "trous" version. This lantern is bounded by sheets of antiqued brass which has been hand drilled to give a delicate lacy effect. Best results are obtained if electrified.

THE IMANE AMANJENA

Large and very impressive, this style echoes the distinctive design of the lanterns in the exclusive Amanjena Hotel in Marrakech.

The heavy, antique brass metal looks well either indoors or outdoors.

When illuminated, the latticework carved into the side and dome panels throws a wonderfully delicate pattern on any nearby surface, in pleasing counterpoint to the sturdyness of the lantern.

THE IMANE TROUS

The same metal, shape and dimensions as the lantern above, but a completely different technique has been used to finish the dome and sides.

Here the panels have been hand drilled to give the effect of metal lacework. This is a more labour intensive process which is fully rewarded by the resulting, seemingly delicate, effect.

Two finishes, smooth antique brass, as shown on the left, or with a delicate pattern of lines worked into the roof panels.
