FEATHER PATTERNED FIBULAE
A beautiful pair of matched fibulae in silver, each has a bright red crystal "ruby" surrounded by scrolls and plumes of silver.
At least 50 years old, these would look fabulous pinned to a scarf or lapel. Or used as a stylish anchor for a pair of glasses.
Attach the fibula to any fabric by sliding the pin through a fold of material and rotating the metal circle to secure it.
These are in exceptionally good condition and have been well cared for by their previous owners.

ANTIQUE FIBULA
A very old pair of coin silver fibulae which show appealing wear from long usage. One of the metal loops that "lock" the pins in place when attached to fabric, has been replaced at some stage.
The central diamond and the little khamsas that dangle from it are decorated with simple geometric engravings. Each fibula is completed by vintage "turtle" closures
These two have been together for decades, it would be a pity if they were to part company now!
Total length: 19 cms
Maximum width:
6 cms
Price: $95 CDN the pair

ANTIQUE CLOAK CLOSURE
Another very old piece of Berber finery designed to hold a cloak or wedding blanket around the shoulders.
Each end of the closure terminates in a turtle fibula and beautifully decorated "box", one side of which is embellished with a deep red cabochon, the other has an intricate pattern of raised silver with red and green enamel. Click on the photo for a close up.
One of the fine silver links in the chain closure is worn through, and very few of the metal circles are original as they do not match. But this is an authentic piece with great character.
It will appeal to those who would enjoy acquiring a fragment of Berber history.
Total Length: 73 cms

EBONY and SILVER TALISMAN
This is an old talismen, or tcherot, probably one of a pair made for a married couple.
Old talismen were typically made of three different metals. The front of this piece is engraved silver, the reverse is brass and the suspension hooks and knobs at the lower tips are copper.
Originally it would have been possible to open the tcherot so that a prayer or something similar could be inserted for protection.
This is an authentic and well preserved tcherot.
On a hand rolled leather thong.
Overall Length: 7 cms
Overall width: 6 cms
Price: $ 175 CDN |

NEW TALISMAN "LOCKETS"
These are modern talismen, with a stamped, rather than engraved silver front which clicks into a brass back plate. Small, significant items can be tucked inside the secret compartment.
Each design is different and each talisman locket is suspended by an adjustable, silky cord.
