TOUAREG "BOAT" PENDANT

Black and silver is a favourite colour pairing in Touareg jewelry.

This is a fairly large pendant. The chain consists of black glass beads, with silver cylinders at intervals along the length.

The coin silver pendant is composed of three parts. The lower part incorporates a half moon of black pate de verre and is topped by a centre panel with ebony, crowned with a silver "boat".

The silver surface is engraved all over with distinctive Tuareg geometrics.

SILVER AND CORNELIAN HOUMAISSA

The shape of this pendant is a combination of five triangles and is a Touareg interpretation of the khamsa, or Hand of Fatima.

The entire surface is covered in beautifully precise engraving and each point and peak is finished with a tiny silver ball.

The artisan's signature is on the reverse of the piece which is strung from a necklace of black glass beads and silver cylinders.

BERBER ANTIQUE CORAL

This is a contemporary combination of very old elements.

In its earlier life, the pendant would have formed part of a larger, more complex piece of finery. It consists of a rectangle of coin silver decorated with gold and green enamel. Age has clouded the surface of the three cabochons which complete the piece.

The entire length of the necklace is fashioned from cylinders of very old Mediterranean branch coral, alternating with tiny old silver beads.

This is an interesting piece for those who enjoy jewelry with a history.
